On June 5th, the class of 2026 attended their prom, a Vintage Vogue-themed event that’s sure to be the highlight of their senior year. It took place at the Pearson Convention Center from 5 PM, starting the night off with a cocktail hour, and ending at 11 PM on the dance floor.

Traditionally, prom is a formal dance event that is hosted for graduating classes towards the end of their final year in high school. It’s often viewed as the social pinnacle of the high school experience, allowing students to enjoy a night of vibes, food, dancing, and other festivities as they end this chapter of their lives.

The 2026 prom theme was Vintage Vogue, taking inspiration from the elegance and timelessness of Old Hollywood. The theme was evident in the thoughtfully styled decorations throughout the venue, from the lighting to the table centerpieces. The theme was also apparent in the formal clothes that students wore.

The event started off at 5 PM with a cocktail hour. As students began arriving, servers could be seen carrying assortments of appetizers and drinks. Students could be seen taking pictures with friends and teachers, chatting amongst themselves, and enjoying the finger food. Throughout the night, students and staff also had access to unlimited drinks from a complimentary soda bar. At around 6:30 PM, everyone had found their tables and taken a seat as they were served dinner. Desserts were available once the dance floor opened and all through the night afterwards.

Senior student Ishaan Sooch commented on the food, stating that “The food was better than I expected. I liked the pasta and the chicken, but nobody at my table touched the salad.”

Once most students had finished their meals, the class of 2026 prom royalty was announced. Palak Patel was announced as Prom Queen with Sahil Khan as her Prom King. The two were the first on the dance floor, and soon enough, everyone else had joined them.

The dancing went on for hours with the DJ playing a variety of songs, while also taking recommendations throughout the night. Just outside the hall, while this dancing was going on, there were a variety of photobooths where students could take pictures with their friends and dates, allowing them to preserve memories of this special night forever. Additionally, students were each given a ticket upon entry, which allowed them to turn a picture they took into a keychain. Unfortunately, many students missed the opportunity because this particular booth closed at 9 PM without notice, prompting frustration among students.

The event finally wrapped up at 11 PM after hours on the dance floor. On their way out, students were encouraged to take a bag of chips, courtesy of the teachers who supervised the event. For many of us, the night didn’t end when the event did; instead it carried on into after-parties, sleepovers, and late-night fast-food runs. After looking forward to this event all year, seniors were left overwhelmingly satisfied with how the night went. None of this would’ve been possible without the time and effort put into it by our carefully chosen Prom Committee and the staff that helped organize and supervise the event.

Now that the Class of 2026 can cross this milestone off their bucket lists, we look forward to seeing what else they will experience and accomplish as they end this chapter of their lives and move on to the next!
