Students, local community members, alumni, and teachers gathered together Thursday, May 21st to celebrate the annual food truck festival which took place behind the school and covered the parking lot and field with various food trucks, live music performed by the school’s concert band, an ice cream truck and two bouncy castles. The event, which took place during the evening, provided fun and entertainment for all the attendees.

Several local food trucks attended the festival offering everything from Jamaican jerk chicken, poutine, tacos, and ice cream. Long lines quickly formed as students rushed to try different foods and spend time with their friends in the warm weather.

“It was fun. It was very welcoming for those who don't go to our school and are from the community. It was very inviting. The food choices were good, everyone was just doing their own thing. Everyone had fun and looked like they were having a good time. The bouncy castles and activities were both fun and entertaining to participate in and watch. Overall the experience was very amazing,” said Alivia Harris, a student and an annual Food Truck Festival attendee.

“The free ice cream truck was nice and the activities were fun. The only bad thing is that there was a lot of trash left over and from what I could see there was only one custodian there tasked to clean it all up. The music performance was nice and I guess the music they were playing was alright, could've been better but it’s fine. Overall it was good but some things could be improved,” said Maleah Robinson, also a student and annual Food Truck Festival attendee with extensive experience of the event and suggestions for what they could improve next year.

The festival was organized by the Student Activity Council (SAC), volunteers and teachers who worked hard and spent lunch, class time and time after school to ensure that the event went smoothly. The decorations and music helped create a fun and exciting atmosphere where teachers and staff members could join in on the excitement. In addition to the food trucks there were games, photo opportunities, and live music performed by the Jazz Band, led by Ms. Umachandran. The festival was a great opportunity to boost school spirit and give students a chance to socialize outside of class.

Overall, the Food Truck Festival was a successful evening of fun that left students and staff in anticipation for next year.
