The school year is coming to an end, leading to the final IBT event for mentors and mentees. It was the final chance for the mentorship groups to participate in activities together. All of the games took place on June second, 2026, on the tennis court and back field during the second half of the school day.
It all started with an introduction from Joel, a member of Beanstalk Creative, who was a guest speaker earlier in the year. He explained all of the activities, and then students were sent out in large groups to the different stations.
One of the activities was based on learning to juggle. “The instructions were great, but I couldn’t really get the hang of it,” said Oscar Tang, a grade nine student. Another station was called “Move it Move it,” where an instructor gave students verbal instructions and they had to follow them with actions, sometimes with a twist.
The third station required each team to come up with a name and action to represent them. Then, they faced off in rock, paper, scissors, and the losing team would have to run from the winning team and try to get tagged. The final activity station made IBT students use their business skills to come up with a product, create a pitch and slogan, and present it to everyone.
“My favourite station was the ice cream sundae one," said Himmat Pannu, a grade 12 student.
Overall, the event was a full-circle moment. Grade 12 students ended their high school IBT experience in the same way that it began, now as mentors.
