The leadership classes took it upon themselves to create events on the Day of Pink to help promote its message: anti-bullying and acceptance of members of the 2SLGBTQI+ communities. On April 9, the students hosted fun games and a karaoke event at lunch in the Commons and cafeteria with a photo booth in room 321 the following day.

The leadership classes, supervised by Ms. Lakhani and Ms. Parkinson, planned events to bring attention to the Day of Pink, which has been described as something needed to be talked about more. The students from both classes put their heads together to come up with events that would run on the day of, and after much consideration, came to three final conclusions: games that included a variation of beer pong, a karaoke event, and a photo booth.

The game that was hosted by a group was a variation of a popular game known as ‘beer pong.’ This variation required bouncing a ping pong ball on a table and landing it into a cup which was raised above the table. There were different cups and each cup had its own reward; the rewards increased with the difficulty of the cup.

Ms. Lakhani, who was one of the teachers assisting students in organizing the event, thought it was a success: “We were hoping to bring awareness not just to bullying, but bullying experienced by the 2SLGBTQIA+ community [...] There was success and I’m positive this is something that future students can build on.” She added, saying, “It was also important for students to understand allyship and the different forms it can take.” Reflecting on the performance of the classes and the effectiveness of their work, she said: “Both leadership classes worked hard to create activities that were engaging and informative. The activities were inclusive, educational, and all of them worked towards building a stronger school community. There was such a good turnout for all the events, and its success can be attributed to the Leadership students who were constantly engaging with peers and speaking to the importance of the day, with reference
