On May 8th, the grade 11 physics class, the grade 12 calculus and vectors class, travel and tourism class and SAC spent the day at Canada’s Wonderland.
This beautiful day was a day for all the science and math enjoyers to have a day off and relax. This park was around the first day of opening, allowing the students of our school and other schools around the GTA to enjoy the park all to themselves. This allowed them to have short lines, no time wasted, and a lot of fun. Many students got to enjoy the big rides like the Leviathan, Behemoth, and Yukon Striker as well as the brand new Alpen Fury. Many of the teachers also participated in the rides because who doesn’t like a little fun in their lives? The screams, the tears, and the laughter all made the day at Wonderland a day one would never forget.
Once the teachers let the students off, that is when all the patience was let loose. Students were running left and right, trying to get to the big rides before anyone else. This day was also good because no accidents occurred for the entire 9 hours of the day. The students ended the day off with a lot of fun and a lot of memories. Many of the grade 12 students were happy to enjoy a day with their friends outside of class and school.
Simrat Walia, a grade 11 student part of the STEM for girls and astronomy club, really enjoyed the trip. “Wonderland was very fun because we got to experience all of the rides and see how it connected to physics and the g-forces you experience on the roller coasters. We were able to materialize what we learned in class.”
This trip gave the opportunity for students to enjoy and have fun with their friends and peers outside of school–especially for the grade 12 students who attended, as it was their last trip of their high school experience. Sadly, the students had to return back to their teachers by 3:30 PM to return home after around six hours of amusement.
Overall, the day ended on a positive note. Many memories were made and all the students looked very happy to have been there.
